Today your iCal will ring true on the Dock if its open or not. There has been much controversy surrounding the mysterious date on the icon. If i remember correctly it was the release date off the application. Enjoy.

Quicktime Fullscreen Mode…for Free

This feature should be built in, sadly it’s not. For those of you that don’t want to pony up the cash, here is a work around. A three line apple script.

tell application “QuickTime Player”

present front movie scale screen

end tell

It’s as simple as that. Save it as an application and double click with your movie open.
